For the very first time, the French football player Karim Benzema won the men's Ballon d'Or, capping off a stellar season with Real Madrid that included Champions League and Spanish league titles. The 34-year-old Benzema had his best season at Real Madrid, scoring the most goals in both leagues.

Benzema edged out players such as Robert Lewandowski, Premier League player Kevin de Bruyne, etc.

Actually, after I read the news, I was a bit surprised that Lionel Messi was absent from the list of 2022 finalists. Well, Messi already won the title for a record seventh time, and alongside fellow superstar Cristiano Ronaldo have shared 12 of the last 13 Ballon d'Or trophies. Should be fine, huh?

Karim Benzema of La Liga club Real Madrid was crowned as the world's best men's player at the Ballon d'Or 2022 ceremony. He got his trophy from the legend Zinedine Zidane who was overjoyed for his fellow countryman.

During the ceremony, the 34-year-old French footballer Karim Benzema was spotted wearing a Richard Mille RM65-01 Automatic Winding Split-Seconds Chronograph in Rose Gold. The watch features a skeleton dial on a black rubber strap.

Barcelona's striker Robert Lewandowski won the 2022 Gerd Müller Award as the world's best striker. The trophy is named after the legendary Bayern striker Gerd Müller, whose Bundesliga goals record Lewandowski beat last season. Müller passed away last year, so Lewandowksi paid tribute to the German legend in his victory speech.
