Hun Sen is the Prime Minister of Cambodia, a country in Southeast Asia, since 1985. It makes him the longest-serving head of government of Cambodia, and one of the longest-serving world leaders.

On social media, we can see that he has been spotted several times wearing insane timepieces, motivating me to curate his watch collection. Compared to other world leaders like Joe Biden, his watches are beyond beyond! 

I discovered that as of January 2023, Hun Sen's net worth is $5 Million. According to Radio Free Asia, the Cambodian leader owns a collection of watches worth at least $13 million. According to his detractors, it is an apparent discrepancy with his $2,500-a-month salary. 

In this article, I don't want to focus on that part. I'm just interested in his crazy watches. With no further due, let's dive in Hun Sen watch collection.

In this picture, he wears the seven pieces limited rose gold Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime that costs around $2,700,000 released almost in the end of 2014.

The Grandmaster Chime spent the last 8 years in development, and houses 20 complications in 1,366 parts. Two of the complications are actually the first of their kind. The 47mm case alone took 4 years to develop and has an additional 214 components, which is more than what most movements have. Apart from being technically masterful, the case is a hand-engraved triumph.

The watch has two dials. The first dial (crown pointed right) is the time-side dial. It is 18K gold with a white opaline finish. Its center is radially undulated with guilloche. It has three major hands. The second dial, which one reveals by rotating the entire case on its lugs, is the calendar dial. It reveals four slightly recessed sub dials (month, date/leap year, day, and hours/minutes) and a centered, four-digit year display. 

In addition, we can also see a Richard Mille that looks like the RM07-01 with a brilliant-cut diamonds set case surrounding a red center dial with pave diamonds on his wife's wrist. Market price is around $400,000.

In the picture, he wears the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Grand Complication 26582CE. This Royal Oak is the ultimate complication combination entirely encased in black ceramic: push-pieces, crown, push-piece guards and case. 

The 44mm watch is equipped with the rare ability to transcend the potential of a traditional self-winding movement uniting the supremely refined minute repeater, split-second chronograph, and perpetual calendar complications.

Its retail price is $280,000 but on the secondary market it trades for around $1,000,000.

Next is the Vacheron Constantin Les Cabinotiers Grand Complication Phoenix with 15 complications. I found a very interesting story behind this watch on VC homepage. let me just copy paste it: 

According to the legend of the Phoenix, which arose in the East before reaching Asia, this fabled bird braved the cycle of life and death by setting itself on fire and rising from its ashes every 500 years. A symbol of immortality, it inspired the creators of the Les Cabinotiers Grande Complication Phœnix watch, which also defies time with its 15 complications.

Visible on both sides of the watch, an array of indications – including perpetual calendar, equation of time, sunrise and sunset, sky chart, seasons, signs of the zodiac, age and phase of the moon, solstices, sidereal hours and minutes, power – endow it with nobility and prestige. A minute repeater and a tourbillon complete this exceptional list of functions. The watchmakers of the Les Cabinotiers department have succeeded in accommodating all these functions within the limited space of the case by maximum miniaturisation of all components, while preserving their reliability.

The numerals and hands stand out clearly against the slate-grey colour of the two dials on either side of the watch, beautifully offsetting the pink gold case. The optimal legibility of this complex model is also ensured by the layout of the additional counters and the various time indications.

Regarding the retail price, I couldn't find it, but the market price is around $3-4 Million.

Richard Mille RM57-05 Tourbillon Eagle 'Russia' is a limited edition of 5 pieces made exclusively for the Richard Mille Boutique in Russia. The black ceramic case provides a striking contrast and visual depth, against which the Eagle shines in 18 K Red Gold. 

It retails for about $1,200,000.

His other Richard Mille watch that cost a fortune is what we see on his wrist. Mr. Hun Sen was seen wearing a Richard Mille 57-03 Tourbillon Sapphire Dragon, which is a limited edition of 55 watches and only available at Richard Mille boutiques in Asia.  

In 2020, Patek Philippe introduced the Patek Philippe Grand Complications Grande Sonnerie 6301P that we can see on Hun Sen's wrist. 

The ref. 6301P is a focused mechanical masterpiece and, in contrast to the Grandmaster Chime, which was multi-complication, strikes the time en passant, or as it passes. Nonetheless, it also functions as a carillon, striking instead of the normal two pairs of hammers and gongs on three pairs. 

Retail price: $1,200,000.

This is the most expensive watch in Hun Sen watch collection so fa (please correct me if I'm wrong!). 

Hollywood celebrity and a watch collector himself, Mark Wahlberg, also owns this masterpiece.

Another reference of this watch is known as the most expensive watch sold at auction. I'm talking about the Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime 6300A-01. 

Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime 6300A-01 broke the world record for the most expensive watch with a hammer price of $31.2 million, bought by a private telephone bidder. 

It is by far the highest price ever paid for a wristwatch, and from what I understand, all proceeds will be donated to Duchenne muscular dystrophy research.

This timepiece definitely dethroned the famous cool Rolex Daytona Paul Newman Dial 6239, which sold for $17.8 million in 2017.

Mr. Prime Minister seems to love Patek Philippe watches. Here, we can see another Patek Philippe on his wrist. This time, he wears the white gold Patek Philippe 6002 Sky Moon Tourbillon. 

It features 13 complications and two dials. They each possess a minute repeater with two cathedral gongs and a tourbillon; on the front dial, they both indicate standard time and feature a perpetual calendar with a retrograde date and a moonphase display. 

The rear dials set the stage for astronomical functions: they show the northern sky, sidereal time, and the angular progression and phases of the moon. 

It features a blue dial with cloisonné and champlevé enamel motifs. The previous version, 5002, was sold for around $1.2 Million, so this model must have a higher price. Some say it could be auctioned for over $3 Mil.!
