‘What kind of watches does President Joe Biden have in his watch collection’ was the first question that came into my mind when he was officially sworn into the White House office on a cold winter morning on 2 January 2021. At that time, most people probably talked about the election or something that was politics-related. As a watch nerd, I was more interested in Biden’s watches.

The fact is, also something that is not often discussed, that the 46th President of the United States, Joe Biden, is a watch collector. He owns several watches, including Rolex and Apple Watch. The latter was also seen worn by some of the World Leaders, Premier League Managers, and Formula One drivers.

It is totally understandable that a US President would want to wear a timepiece that reflects the importance of their title, as having a wardrobe that demonstrates austerity and commands respect is an important part of being a President  As a result, several United States Presidents, including Dwight Eisenhower, Lyndon B. Johnson, Ronald Reagan, and Barack Obama, have been photographed wearing Rolex watches.

Now, let's answer the question 'What watches does President Joe Biden wear?' Without further due, here are the watches: 

Let's start with the watch that was spotted very often on his wrist - Rolex Datejust 41mm ref. 126200. The watch features a blue dial, a smooth bezel, and a jubilee bracelet. Such a nice, clean, modern watch for the President.

This picture was taken during his meeting with private sector CEOs in the White House, Washington DC in March 2022. However, Joe Biden was also wearing his Rolex Datejust on his Inauguration Day.

Like Prince William from the British Royal Family, the 46th President of the United States own an Omega Seamaster 300M Mid-Size 2561.80 from the first generation.

The watch seen on Pierce Brosnan's wrist in James Bond's Goldeneye 1995 was created in 1993 as a replacement for the Seamaster 200M. 

The case was more traditional than the previous edition, with the distinctive scalloped bezel and gently sweeping 'lyre' lugs (a nod to the Seamaster 300 of 1964 and beyond).

The wave pattern on the dial, which is present on all but a small precentage of the enormous variety produced, is another distinguishing feature of this generation.

Joe Biden has another Omega watch. In the picture, he wears a $6,300 Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch ref. 311.30.42.30.01.006.

The watch features a black dial with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, a small seconds-subdial, 30-minute and 12-hour registers, and a chronograph hand in the center. The black bezel with the tachymetric scale is housed in a 42 mm stainless steel case and is displayed on a matching bracelet.

A $300 Seiko 7T32-6M90 is one of Biden's favorite watches, as I can tell.

The model was available in the 1990s and early 2000s, making it a rare find today. He has been seen wearing it in public during meetings and campaign rallies. His Chronograph is adorned with a two-toned bracelet and case in silver and gold. After being elected President, he was seen wearing the same watch while speaking to the nation about his victory.

As the first US president in history, Joe Biden wore an Apple Watch in the White House. 

Of course, one could counter that only his two forerunners would have been capable of doing so in the first place (since the watch only got launched in 2014). 

However, presidents prefer to select their timepieces with care and consideration for symbolism; an Apple Watch symbolizes modernity and having a finger on the pulse of time, which could not always be said of Biden's predecessor.

To celebrate April Fool's Day, which happened to coincide with the most anticipated event for watch enthusiasts, Watches and Wonders in Geneva, I decided to create a lighthearted, watch-related joke. 

Watches and Wonders showcased numerous new timepieces from various brands throughout the week. Among these, the Oyster Perpetual with colored bubbles garnered much attention and divided opinions – people either loved it or hated it.

In order to make my joke even more viral, I sought a famous figure who would somehow match the distinctive colored bubbles watch. It didn't take me long to find one famous and viral famous figure. Joe Biden popped up in my mind straight away. In my opinion, the watch would fit him perfectly. With no ill intentions and purely for the sake of amusement, I paired the watch with none other than Joe Biden.

Armed with two viral elements – the unique watch and the high-profile personality – my post was primed for virality. And, indeed, it worked! Following my post, many other watch influencers jumped on the bandwagon and shared similar jokes, pairing different watches with other famous personalities such as the Pope or the Dalai Lama. It seems that my light-hearted prank sparked a trend that spread throughout the watch community, bringing smiles and laughter to everyone involved.
