Karim Benzema Watches - Interesting Collection

Karim Benzema watch collection - Born in Lyon to Algerian parents, the 34-year-old Karim Benzema is currently the rising star in the football industry, recognized as one of the best forwards of his generation. He competes as a striker for Real Madrid of La Liga and the France national team. His goals are on everyone's lips. In the 2021/2022 season, he has already achieved 37 goals. 

*Update on 18 October 2022* No wonder that Benzema was named as the World's Best Men's Player at the 2022 Ballon d'Or ceremony held in Paris, 17 October 2022.

But what interests keep Karim "The Dream" busy outside of the green pitch when he isn't busy winning games for his teammates? Well, as the feed of his Instagram profile also testifies, in his spare time, the bomber of Franco-Algerian origins delights as a collector of supercars and luxury watches, just like other football stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

When I decided to write about Benzema's watch collection, I told myself to start with this picture because what you see on his wrist is one of my favorite watches ever! It looks so stunning. I proudly present the Rolex GMT Master II Root Beer in 18k rose gold 126715CHNR. I like this version rather than the two-tone. Benzema and I have the same taste, obviously hehe.

The French footballer was seen wearing an 18k rose gold Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar, a 41mm member of the “Royal Oak” family. Its silver-toned dial has a “Grande Tapisserie” pattern and features a perpetual calendar and moon phase indications. Watches with a perpetual calendar display the day, date, month, and a leap year. It means, a perpetual calendar corrects date and year cycle (and subsequently day, month, and moonphase too) in perpetuity.

If another question is raised, 'what is a leap year?' A leap year is a calendar year with an additional day added to synchronise the calendar year with the astronomical year. This additional day is added to the end of the shortest month, February (now you know why February has 29 days once every four years). Scienctific speaking, Earth takes approximately 365.25 days to orbit the sun. So, it needs 366 days to orbit every four years. 

Therefore, to make up for the missing day, we add one day to our calendar approximately every four years. Any year evenly divisible by 4 is a leap year, for example, 2000, 2004, 2008, etc.

The famous striker for Real Madrid was seen sporting a very limited Richard Mille RM 055 Yas Marina Circuit. The around $690,000 Richard Mille RM 055 Yas Marina Circuit, which is only available in 50 pieces and has a case composed of more than 600 layers of carbon fiber, is surely a technical giant. 

Another Benzema's Richard Mille watch that I want to mention is this white ceramic RM-055 Bubba Watson. This is one of my favourite Richard Mille watches. There is just something special with this timepiece. This watch was made originally for the famous golfer Bubba Watson. This beauty is inspired by the RM 038 Bubba Watson tourbillon watch presented in 2011.

It features an extreme skeleton movement due to the titanium case and has a ceramic ATZ front bezel. Its mechanical movement, crafted in grade 5 titanium, displays extreme skeletonisation. The RM 055 is a highly technical creation that is innovative, sporty, and hand-finished in the finest watchmaking tradition.

On 1 March 2022 after his UEFA Champions League match against PSG  and scored a hat-trick, he posted his picture wearing the gorgeous yellow gold Rolex Day-Date 36 ref. 128238 with a deep green ombre dial set in diamonds.

Current market price (July 2022): ~$60,000.

The 34-year-old footballer was also seen wearing the stainless steel Patek Philippe Aquanaut Chronograph 5968A that features the classic Aquanaut’s square pattern in dark grey with orange on both the second's hand and the sub-counter. The timepiece is matched with an orange strap.

Current market price (July 2022): ~$188,000.

End of June 2022, Benzema posted a picture of him sleeping on a plane, most likely in business class, with a Rolex Daytona black dial seen on his wrist. However, as you can see that the bezel is not black, so it is definitely not the latest version.

Another Daytona in his watch collection is the beautiful Daytona in 18 ct rose gold, with a chocolate and black dial on an oyster bracelet. It features an 18 ct rose gold bezel with engraved tachymetric scale that can be used to read average speed over a given distance based on elapsed time.

At the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, France, Real Madrid defeated Liverpool 1-0 in the 2022 UEFA Champions League Final. The following day, they held an open-top bus parade in Madrid, Spain, to celebrate their victory. The 2021/2022 Champions League Top Scorer with 15 goals was spotted wearing the newly released Rolex Sprite on an oyster bracelet. It is currently selling on the grey market for about $39,000.

Karim Benzema, who has a net worth $70 million, received the prestigious Ballon d'Or 2022 from Real Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane. Congrats Karim!

During the ceremony, Benzema was spotted wearing a 45 mm Richard Mille 65-01 Automatic Winding Split-seconds Chronograph in 18k Rose Gold featuring a skeleton dial on a black rubber strap.

During the Ballon d’Or 2022 celebration at Santiago Bernabeu stadium, he wore a Royal Oak ‘Rainbow’ Double Balance Wheel Openworked 15412BC in 18k frosted white gold. 

The bezel is set with 32 baguette-cut gemstones of 12 different variations, including ruby, emerald, and sapphires in a range of colors. 

The frosted gold case and bracelet are inspired by a traditional hammered technique used by the craftsmen, where a diamond-tipped graver remove
