Hey there! Welcome to my latest blog post and now we take a closer look at Hubert Hurkacz watch collection, an accomplished tennis player from Poland.
In the world of tennis, the relationship between players and luxury watches has always been a notable one. The sport's inherent elegance and sophistication are often seen as a perfect match for the luxury image that many high-end watch brands embody. This connection is exemplified by tennis greats like Novak Djokovic, who is associated with Hublot, Serena Williams with her Audemars Piguet, and Rafael Nadal's preference for Richard Mille.
The trend of tennis stars aligning with prestigious watch brands is further highlighted by the legendary Roger Federer, who was famously known for his impressive Rolex collection. This association between top players and renowned watch brands underscores the shared values of excellence and precision in both fields. However, it's always exciting to explore the choices of those who step outside the conventional path. This brought me to Hubert Hurkacz, affectionately known as Hubi, who adds his unique touch to this tradition.
So far, I only have seen Gerald Charles watches in Hubert Hurkacz watch collection, a less common but equally exquisite timepiece. Unlike the more familiar brands sported by his contemporaries, Hurkacz's choice stands out, showcasing his individual taste and preference for luxury watches.

He's been seen rocking four different watches from the Gerald Charlescollection so far. Let's kick off with the Gerald Charles GC Sport in royal blue.
This watch isn't just a looker; it's a performer too, having earned the seal of approval from some of the world's top athletes. It's a high-flying, high-performance sports watch, drawing its design DNA from the unique Maestro. Crafted in polished Grade 5 titanium, this watch is as tough as steel but feels like a feather on your wrist – 40% lighter to be exact. I'm talking about a watch that barely tips the scales at around 50 grams and has a slim profile of just 8mm.
The designers cleverly shifted the screw-down crown to the left side of the case for added comfort and to avoid any annoying wrist rubs during those action-packed moments.
Now, let's talk about that dial. The royal blue is not just blue; it's a playful, dynamic shade that changes with the light. In warm light, it's like a violet sunset; in cold light, it turns into icy blue; under the blazing sun, it's a vibrant light blue; and when night falls, it dresses up in almost black. And those Arabic numerals at 3, 9, and 12? They add just the right touch of sporty flair.
Honestly, I'm a fan of its shape – it's the epitome of elegance and sophistication. And don't get me started on the vulcanized rubber strap – it's not just a looker but feels like a dream on the wrist.

Hubert Hurkacz Watch - Gerald Charles GC Maestro 8.0 Squelette
Hubert Hurkacz Watch - Gerald Charles GC Maestro 8.0 Squelette
The watch on Hubert Hurkacz's wrist is the Gerald Charles Maestro GC 8.0 Squelette, an unbelievably ultra-thin and stunning timepiece.
The Maestro 8.0 Squelette is a marvel in the world of watchmaking, marrying Mr. Genta’s iconic Maestro case shape with a strikingly unique open-worked movement. This design choice highlights the true 'art' of mechanical watchmaking. Developed exclusively for Gerald Charles under the creative guidance of the renowned contemporary watch designer Mr. Octavio Garcia, this bespoke ultra-thin automatic movement shows brand's commitment to innovation and excellence.
The case of the Maestro GC 8.0 Squelette, drawing inspiration from the Maestro 2.0 Ultra-Thin model, has been refined to a slim 8.35mm. This design enhancement not only improves the watch's ergonomics but also pushes the boundaries of elegance and performance. Consistent with the high standards of Gerald Charles watches, the Maestro 8.0 Squelette features a screw-down crown, ensuring water resistance up to an impressive 100 meters, blending luxury aesthetics with practical durability.

During his match against Novak Djokovic on day seven of Wimbledon 2023, Hubi was seen wearing the Gerald Charles Maestro GC Sport Grass.
The GC Sport skillfully combines a lightweight, robust architecture with traditional fine watchmaking techniques. It's designed to be suitable for every moment in life and has been tested and approved by some of the world's most renowned professional athletes.
I've had the opportunity to try this watch before, and I must say, I was really impressed by its dimensions and the fact that it's incredibly lightweight. No wonder Hubi likes to wear it on the field.
The watch features the sophisticated calibre Ref. GCA 3002. This is an automatic calibre, only 3.7 mm thick, and includes date and time functions, a double barrel, and a 50-hour power reserve.
Significantly, the movement has been adapted for a 180-degree rotation to set the crown on the left side of the case. The most substantial alteration was to the date wheel, which needed a bespoke solution to ensure it aligned perfectly with the new design.

Hubert Hurkacz Watch - Gerald Charles GC Sport Clay

Another standout timepiece in Gerald Charles GC Sport collection that we can see in Hubert Hurkacz watch collection is the GC Sport Clay. While the GC Sport Grass features a dial that pays homage to the tennis surface grass, the GC Sport Clay similarly honors the clay tennis surface.
Gerald Charles maintains a strong connection with the world of professional tennis, having rigorously shock-tested the versatile Maestro GC Sport on the wrists of various ATP tournament players. The watch boasts a robust case construction and a highly shock-resistant ultra-thin movement. Impressively, it withstood the extraordinary stresses of a professional tennis match without any impact on its performance. However, what truly sets Gerald Charles watches apart is their ergonomic design and comfort on the wrist, allowing professional tennis players to wear the GC Sport during matches.
The Maestro collection showcases three references of the GC Sport, each paying tribute to one of the three tennis surfaces: hard, clay, and grass. This thematic approach underlines the brand's deep appreciation and understanding of the sport's diverse playing fields.
