Thanks to the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar, I got the inspiration to curate watches of the Qatari noble family. In this blog post, I will show 10 watches of the Prince of Qatar, Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

He is a member of the House of Thani, Qatar. He is the fifth son of the former leader or Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

On his Instagram post, he has been spotted wearing many luxury watches on his wrist on many occasions, just like Conor McGregor, Mark Wahlberg, John Mayer, etc. 

To be honest, he has a crazy luxury watch collection, from Richard Mille to Patek Philippe. It is not a surprise considering he comes from a Qatari noble house - his father is the former leader.

The 36-year-old Sheikh Joaan was spotted here wearing a Richard Mille RM-056 'Felipe Massa' Sapphire Tourbillon Split Seconds Competition Chronograph, where the case has been cut and milled from solid blocks of sapphire.

The hardness of this timepiece is extreme, due to the material and it is limited to just 5 pieces worldwide.

Like Karim Benzema who was spotted wearing this watch during the World Cup 2022, the Qatari also has the rare Richard Mille 67-02 Automatic 'Mutaz Barshim.'

The watch was made in partnership with Mutaz Essa Barshim. The case of this piece is made of Quartz and Carbon TPT in maroon and white colors of the Qatar’s flag. It weighs just 32 grams, making it the lightest self-winding watch in the Richard Mille collection. 

Retail price: $178,500.

Another Richard Mille in his collection is a unique timepiece. It’s not only because of the red-yellow colors. 

Richard Mille RM 27-03, which is a continuation of ultra-light carbon fiber TPT (Thin Ply Technologies) watches made for tennis player Rafael Nadal. 

This model has, among others, a tourbillon and a shock resistance, which was tested with a 10,000G hammer pendulum – where G stands for gravitational force equivalent. 

Price: $725,000.

Let's move to another luxury brand, Audemars Piguet. He definitely has many Royal Oak watches. However, I'm just showing only one of them. It is the Royal Oak Tourbillon Chronograph Openworked 26343CE - The sleek glamour of black ceramic in the case, bezel, bracelet, and caseback of this limited edition.

The satin-brushed black dial is openworked, with black counters, white gold-applied hour markers and Royal Oak hands with luminescent coating.

Retail price: ~$312,000.

He has been spotted wearing a Patek Philippe watch very often. Apparently, he has many watches from the brand. The first Patek Philippe watch I want to mention is the Patek Philippe Aquanaut 5168G with a khaki dial.

Introduced at Baselworld in 2019, the khaki-colored 5168G-010 was a brand-new adventurous design from Patek Philippe that the watch community fell in love with. 

The 5168G-010 case is white gold and is 42.2mm in diameter and 8.25mm thick, with a screw down crown, a sapphire crystal and exhibition case back. 

The dial is and embossed khaki green with white, Arabic numeral hour markers and a date window at 3-o-clock. 

The case is paired with a matching khaki, composite rubber material that has a fold-over clasp. It has a water resistance of 120 meters.

Retail price: $39,690. 

Next is the new Patek Philippe Complications 5172G.

The 5127G is a classic beauty with its freshly designed 18k white gold case with round, three-tiered, and guilloche push-pieces. The sapphire crystal with a box design emphasizes the subtle vintage aesthetic. 

The blue dial also offers a new look, from which the applied white-gold numerals and hands with luminous coating stand out. This chronograph has very good reasons for being part of the Complications family.

Retail price: $69,263.

Market price: ~$82,000.

Kinda similar to the John Mayer collection, Prince Joaan also has the green dial Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711/1A-014. However, his watch is not with a Tiffany stamp. 

The special sunburst olive-green dial is horizontally embossed and features gold-applied hour markers with a luminescent coating. This timepiece has been introduced to celebrate this iconic reference in its last year of production, for the first time with a green dial 

Retail price: $34,893.

Market price: ~$500,000.

He also has another green dial Patek Philippe Nautilus, but this one has a diamond-set bezel. In the picture, you can see the Nautilus 5711/1300A made in stainless steel on his wrist. 

This model that was released in 2007 has the exact same identity of that of the old blue dial Nautilus, except this exact model comes in olive green dial and features also 32 baguette diamonds adorning the bezel.

Retail price: $ 94,620.

Market price: ~$1,400,000.

Like Messi, Jay Z, Drake, DJ Khaled, and many other celebrities, the Prince also has the stunning Patek Philippe Nautilus Perpetual Calendar 5740 in white gold.

Introduced as the first grand complication in the Nautilus collection, it features a blue sunburst dial with gold-applied hour markers and luminescent coating. 

Retail price: $126,850.

Market price (Nov 2022): ~$250,000.

He actually has so many other watches in his collection, but in this post I will only show 10. The last timepiece I want to mention is the most hyped watch in 2022: Patek Philippe Nautilus Tiffany Dial 5711/1A-018. He was seen wearing this watch during the celebration of Eid-ul-Adha on 10 July 2022,

Released in December 2021, the Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711/1A-018 was created to commemorate the long-lasting partnership between Patek Philippe and Tiffany & Co. This model with the typical style of Nautilus combined with the iconic blue turquoise (or should I say Tiffany?) color for the dial is probably the most hyped and coveted luxury watch on earth nowadays. 

This exclusive Patek Philippe watch was produced in only 170 units worldwide and is only available at Tiffany & Co. Also, it is worth mentioning that  getting your hands on the model is super difficult because of the exclusiveness. You have to be super popular, rich, and have a strong watch buying history.
