Swatch x Blancpain Scuba Fifty Fathoms - Luxury at $400

comments

The moment we've all eagerly anticipated is finally here. Last year, Swatch collaborated with Omega to launch the MoonSwatch – a budget-friendly, planet-themed timepiece priced at just $260. Now, Swatch has taken another significant leap.

Blancpain is swatched! LOL!

Swatch has joined forces with Blancpain, giving birth to the Swatch x Blancpain Scuba Fifty Fathoms collection. This collection presents five distinct models, each one encapsulating the hallmark features of the Fifty Fathoms series: exceptional water resistance, unparalleled readability, mechanical movement, a secure rotating bezel, and anti-magnetic shielding.

With "Scuba" in its name, one is instantly transported to thoughts of the vast ocean. Keeping true to that essence, each watch design pays tribute to one of the planet's five major oceans and the colorful, intricate sea creatures known as nudibranchs that reside in them. The models are aptly named after Earth’s five grand oceans: ANTARCTIC, ARCTIC, ATLANTIC, INDIAN, and PACIFIC.

According to Swatch's official website, this NON-LIMITED edition collection will be available at select Swatch outlets starting from 9 September 2023. However, there's a catch - individuals can only purchase one watch per store each day.

Given the past frenzy with the release of the MoonSwatch, I can't help but wonder: Will we witness another 'Zombie attack' sequel with this release?

Check out the cool ARCTIC OCEAN watch! With a soft beige face, it has a catchy red and yellow design and the words "NO RADIATIONS" – a fun tip of the hat to old-timey diver watches from the Sixties. Remember when Blancpain made the first ever safe-for-skin diver’s watch? This is a nod to that! The bright red sea creature design adds a pop to the strap and case, and there's a cool drawing on the back above the watch's inner workings!

The ANTARCTIC OCEAN watch is Inspired by our planet's super chilly places, it has a cool feature that shows if water touches it. This special thing, at 6 o’clock on its gray watch face, is big in military diving watches and collectors love it! The watch works with the SISTEM51 engine. On the back, there's a picture of the Tritoniella Belli, a creature that looks like a stormy iceberg. Its quiet colors shaped the look of the watch’s case, face, and the strap made from old nets.

3. Swatch x Blancpain Scuba Fifty Fathoms Atlantic Ocean

Look at the ATLANTIC OCEAN watch! Its deep blue colors remind us of the wild Atlantic sea and waves. The color comes from the Glaucus Atlanticus, or the 'blue dragon', a cool creature that floats on the Atlantic. The watch has a blue case, a changing-color face with a date spot between 4 and 5, and a strap made from old nets. And guess what? There's a picture of the blue dragon on the back! It runs on the SISTEM51 engine.

4. Swatch x Blancpain Scuba Fifty Fathoms Indian Ocean

The INDIAN OCEAN watch has a bright green case, face, and strap made from old nets, making you think of sparkling waters full of life. The different colors remind us of coral reefs and sea animals, like the Nembrotha Kubaryana, which has its picture on the back. The watch face has a date spot between 4 and 5 and works with the SISTEM51 engine

5. Swatch x Blancpain Scuba Fifty Fathoms Pacific Ocean

The PACIFIC OCEAN watch is inspired by the bright Chromodoris Kuiteri fish from the biggest ocean. It has a shiny yellow-orange case, a strap made from old fishing nets, and a black and white face. Plus, there's a date spot between 4 and 5 on the clock and it runs on the SISTEM51 engine!
