George Russell, a famous British F1 driver, races for Mercedes. Just like his fellow racers Max Verstappen, Charles LeClerc, and Lewis Hamilton, he is not just good on the track but also has a knack for collecting fancy watches.

This picture was taken at the Italian Grand Prix in September 2022. At that time, George's racing companion seemed to be an IWC Pilot Chronograph IW377709.

The next IWC timepiece we can find in George Russell watch collection is the IWC Portugieser IW371611 with a contemporary olive green rubber strap. This timepiece was originally commissioned in the 1930s by two Portuguese businessmen looking for a wristwatch to match the precision of nautical instruments.

The watch comes in a 44mm with a ceratanium case. According to IWC:

He has worn many IWC Pilot watches like the AMG version and others including the Double Chronograph Top Gun Ceratanium and the IWC Pilot’s Watch with a teal color named after the "Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team". But, the one he loves most is from IWC’s Portugieser series. He often wears the Portugieser Annual Calendar watch, which is big at 44.2mm and can run for seven days without winding.

“I wear the Portugieser all the time. It works really well on my wrist, and goes with anything”, George explains, “the seven-day power reserve is really helpful. I was never really good at winding my watch”.
